Acquisitions in the Northwestern U.S. and Indiana expand rigid plastic recycling capabilities
Ashland, OH — April 4, 2025
The AZEK Company and Return Polymers, an industry leader in rigid PVC recycling, are pleased to announce the acquisition of two additional recycling facilities, both of which will reduce the overall cost of recycling rigid plastics and immediately increase recycling capacity. Butler MacDonald is an advanced recycler of rigid plastics based in Indianapolis, IN, and Northwest Polymers serves the Molalla and Aurora, Oregon region as a PVC and Polyolefin recycler.
As industry leading recyclers, both acquisitions serve to strengthen AZEK’s Full-Circle Recycling Program by expanding Return Polymer’s recycling capabilities.
Butler MacDonald’s advanced recycling capabilities will enhance the company’s overall core recycling technology.
“This acquisition will allow us to separate lower-cost, contaminated materials to reduce the cost of delivered, recyclable PVC, while simultaneously increasing PE [Polyolefin] recycling capacity,” David Foell, President of Return Polymers, reports.
And Northwest Polymers will allow AZEK and Return Polymers to expand their recycling sourcing and processing operations into the Northwest. The company’s strategic location near AZEK’s Boise manufacturing facility makes it an ideal partner to reduce supply chain costs and environmental impact while increasing the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for their products.
AZEK is the largest vertically integrated recycler of PVC in the U.S. Since 2019, AZEK has diverted 2.1 billion pounds of PVC waste and scrap from landfills and saved over 3 million trees since 2001 by consumers who chose Timbertech over wood products. Acquiring these additional facilities underscores the brand’s commitment to a flourishing world, one that benefits both people and planet.
